What Can You Expect in New Mexico
By Jon Tan
You must go to New Mexico! If you are inclined towards the arts and absolutely spectacular scenery, or just plain adventure. One of the reasons New Mexico is also called the Land of Enchantment is that it is a land of contrasts. When you travel to New Mexico, the verdure of the mountain forests and the crimson rock of the sunny mesas will take your breath away.
You'll see traditional Indian and Hispanic cultures side by side. You can visit art galleries, shop for artists' wares and enjoy fine cuisine in sophisticated cities such as Taos and Santa Fe and explore native and ancient cultures in tiny rural villages and ancient pueblo dwellings.
Albuquerque--New Mexico's largest city. It's home to several busy Indian Gaming Casinos, the International Balloon Fiesta, and the Albuquerque Sandia Peak Tramway, the world's longest. The contrasts of this beautiful land attract artists and travelers from around the world. The most difficult challenge in planning any vacations in New Mexico is choosing where -- from the many amazing places -- to spend your time.
If you only have a weekend, any one of the following destinations (a short list) would be well worth the trip. And if you're lucky enough to have a week or more, combine two or more of the stops for a New Mexico vacation you won't soon forget. The state boasts 23 scenic byways and historic trails, six of which are national level byways. Experiencing the views and solitude from these highways and trails would be enough to quench your thirst for beauty of any New Mexico vacations for a long while.
