Fall Golf in Cental Oregon by Mark Fields
When other Central Oregon golf courses turn a winter brown,
there's one place where the greens remain green awhile longer.
The golf season is longer at Crooked River Ranch in Central Oregon. Sheltered deep within an ancient gorge cut by the Deschutes River, Crooked River Ranch Golf Course keeps winter at bay just long enough to get in a few more rounds in the autumn and start out earlier in the spring. The golf course is usually out of the wind and a tad warmer down there. On average, you can get several more weeks out of the season.
This 5,661 yards, 18 hole, par 71 course is player friendly and you may shave about 6 strokes off your regular score. But there is plenty to hold your interest and lots of ways to get into trouble. Take some time to enjoy the spectacular gorge views as several holes are cliff-side. My favorite view is from the 3rd Tee.
Prices are modest and best of all they only charge a one-half cart fee for a single. Seniors golf for less. For information on rates and tee times contact the pro shop (541) 923-6343 or (800) 833-3197 or E-mail: email@example.com
Crooked River Ranch is a little off the beaten track. You can reach it by following the signs off Hwy 97 from Terrebonne, Oregon for about three miles. Terrebonne is 20 minutes north of Redmond and 40 minutes north of Bend.
